Bob and Carol visited us a few days ago with their son Alex. Carol is a Barkers fan from way back. She remembers the days when we had the famous mobile vending carts downtown. We’ve got a picture in both locations of people waiting in line for Barkers Red Hots at Woodruff Park taken from the Trust Company Building. But on this day, there was another reason why the family spent some time with us—-it was Alex’s 11th birthday. Barkers is where they chose to celebrate with hot dogs and present opening. We love it when our long-standing customers bring their kids in and get them into the Barkers groove. Here’s Alex with his parents on his big day.

The Holiday Photo Contest Winners Are Here

Our first Holiday Photo Contest was a fantastic success. We had great photos–both Santa and a Hanukkah menorah took center stage. The participation from our Facebook Fans was fantastic. The winner was Steve Golden who walked away with a $75 Amazon Gift Card. Kim O’Neill took second place honors and won a $50 Amazon Gift Card, while Brenda Richelt finished third with a $25 Amazon Gift Card for her shopping pleasure. Steve was in second place at the time of a visit to Windy Hill near the end of the contest. With a resolve that could have grilled a hot dog without a flame, Steve let it be known that he would be gathering votes and would grab the lead. His campaign paid off, for sure. We know that contestants and voters alike had a great time. Take a look at, in order, the top three finishers.

2012 = 8:30. What The Heck Does This Mean?

Actually, it’s pretty simple. Our Roswell Crossing location will now be open Sundays until 8:30. So many of our new Roswell customers, as well as many of our Windy Hill fans, were asking for this that we made it happen. Wrap up the weekend with your Barkers Buddies. Even though the new year has just arrived, a sunny Sunday dinner on our big deck is not far away. Visit us at Roswell Crossing Sunday-Thursday from 11-8:30 and Friday and Saturday from 11-9.

We Love The Holiday Season For So Many Reasons

What a great December it has been for Barkers. We’ve taken the Catering Caravan to Cage Rage Sports Facility (twice), Sweet Apple Elementary School, Temple Kehillat Chaim’s Chanukah Palooza and the Buffalo Bills Backers Tailgate party. We started what we think will be a great contest–our Holiday Photo Contest. If you’re a Facebook Fan and have a cool photo showing holiday fun, madness or off the wallness, submit it and you could win an Amazon Gift Card if the Facebook Fan voters choose yours. One of the highlights of December was the great response to our Toys for Tots campaign. We had full boxes at both Windy Hill and Roswell Crossing as well as generous cash donations. Thanks to you, this will be a brighter holiday season for those less fortunate. In the holiday spirit, take a look at some of the Christmas goodies and meet some of our favorite customers–The Chrislers. They’ve been with us since the beginning on Windy Hill and we’re happy whenever they pay us a visit. Each month in our newsletter, “The Bark,” we have a trivia question. The winners receive a free Barkers Original Red Hot. It’s just that easy. As our holiday gift to you, how about some hints to help you answer this month’s quiz? We asked for the name of a famous football coach who was eating a hot dog during a game. Here are two clues. The first clue is that the man coaches in the NFL. The next clue, which should get you even closer, is that the last name of the coach is the same as the last name of one of the greatest players in NFL history.
